Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s reported move back to Britain has sparked mixed reactions among royal watchers, but one member of the Spencer family has made her excitement clear.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly arrived in Birmingham on Wednesday afternoon with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, ahead of the new school term. The family is expected to stay at a private, non-royal residence in the Cotswolds.
Later that evening, Lady Eliza Spencer, daughter of Charles Spencer and Harry’s cousin, addressed the reported move during the launch of her rosé brand.
“It’s exciting! We would love to be able to find some time to visit,” Eliza told The Mirror.
When asked whether she could trade winemaking tips with Meghan, who sells rosé through her lifestyle brand As Ever, Lady Eliza jokingly replied: “Maybe!”
Although it remains to be seen how the wider royal family will respond to the Sussexes being closer to home, Harry can seemingly count on a warm welcome from his mother’s side of the family.
Princess Diana’s relatives have long appeared supportive of Harry, even during the most difficult period of the royal rift. His uncle Charles Spencer has also maintained a close bond with both Harry and Prince William, making Eliza’s positive reaction far from surprising.
