The Sussexes announce their next engagement as King Charles returns from a major Caribbean tour
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have revealed their next public engagement, reportedly honouring their promise to King Charles despite continued family tensions.
Sources previously said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were taking care to avoid scheduling their appearances at the same time as royal engagements.
As Charles returned home from his high-stakes Caribbean tour, the couple announced that they would travel to Brussels, Belgium, for an event supporting children’s safety.
Harry and Meghan, who share two children, have repeatedly championed efforts to protect young people. Keeping children safe both online and offline remains an important part of their work.
The Sussexes will arrive in Brussels on Tuesday to open the Lost Screen Memorial, which honours children who have died as a result of harm linked to social media.
The first memorial was unveiled in New York in April 2025. Meghan opened the second at Geneva’s Place des Nations in May this year.
The report describes the engagement as particularly significant amid its claims that Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle Sr., is under investigation over allegations of paedophilia and child abuse.
It also states that Meghan, mother to Archie and Lilibet, has expressed heartbreak for the alleged victims and supports allowing the legal process to take its course.
The Brussels event will conclude ahead of Prince William’s Earthshot Prize ceremony, scheduled for November 17 in India. Princess Kate is expected to accompany her husband.
