Meghan reportedly hopes Eugenie could support As Ever amid speculation about a permanent UK return
Meghan Markle reportedly hopes Princess Eugenie could help promote her lifestyle brand, As Ever, as speculation grows about the Duchess’s plans for a permanent return to the UK.
Sources claim Meghan sees Eugenie as someone who could raise the brand’s profile and bring a royal connection to its next chapter.
Meghan, 45, and Prince Harry, 42, have long been close to Eugenie, 36, and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, 40. However, the reported plan could face a setback amid claims that the royal cousins have grown increasingly distant.
Their relationship is said to have come under pressure following renewed scrutiny of Eugenie’s parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, over their associations with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Eugenie is reportedly reluctant to maintain the same level of contact with the Sussexes despite their longstanding friendship. Harry, who previously regarded his younger cousin as one of his most dependable royal allies, is said to understand her position and does not want to pressure her into making any decisions.
Eugenie remained in contact with the couple after they stepped back from official royal duties in 2020 and moved to Montecito. She also appeared in their Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan, which explored their relationship and departure from royal life.
Their friendship endured considerable public controversy, including the publication of Harry’s memoir, Spare, in 2023.
However, Eugenie has reportedly sought to protect her relationships with King Charles and Prince William. Renewed attention to her father’s ties to Epstein is said to have made her position within the family more complicated.
Neither Eugenie nor her sister, Princess Beatrice, has been accused of participating in Epstein’s crimes.
