Piers Morgan has branded Prince Harry and Meghan Markle a pair of “unofficial grifters” in his latest criticism of the couple.
The British television presenter accused the Sussexes of exploiting their royal titles following reports describing an upcoming appearance as their first “official” joint outing since their reported move back to the UK.
Responding on X, the former Good Morning Britain co-host wrote: “They’re not doing anything ‘official’ – they’re a pair of unofficial grifters.”
He also accused the couple of “exploiting their royal titles in the most shameless manner.”
His remarks echoed concerns raised by critics about describing the Sussexes’ activities as official engagements when they are no longer working royals.
A community note added to the announcement on X read: “Harry and Meghan’s joint visits are not official royal engagements. A letter from the Lord Chamberlain on King Charles’ behalf, issued after their return to the UK, said their charitable work ‘is a personal matter to them both and undertaken in their private capacity’.”
Morgan’s comments drew mixed reactions on social media. Some users criticised his latest attack on the couple, while others supported his remarks.
The controversy comes as his YouTube show, Piers Morgan Uncensored, prepares to launch its first paid subscription product.
Morgan launched the show after leaving Good Morning Britain in 2021. His departure followed an on-air clash over Meghan’s interview with US television host Oprah Winfrey, during which he walked off the set. He subsequently refused to return to the ITV programme.
