The royal brothers are said to be reconsidering their standoff after a public “wake-up call.”
Prince William and Prince Harry are reportedly taken aback by how openly their family tensions are being mocked in public.
The brothers, who once shared a close bond, have been estranged for more than three years. Speculation about a possible reunion continues, but nothing has been officially confirmed.
Now, sources suggest that a recent Saturday Night Live UK sketch has served as a wake-up call.
The show’s latest cold open imagined an awkward holiday reunion between the brothers at Sandringham, arranged by the disgraced former prince Andrew. No character escaped the satire.
Insiders cited by Rob Shuter claim the sketch has prompted the brothers to consider taking steps towards reconciliation.
“They’re being laughed at,” one source said. “This is the future King and his brother, not two schoolboys refusing to sit together at lunch. Somebody has to grow up.”
According to the sources, talks between Harry and William are being arranged as a first step.
“Harry wants his brother back. William wants Catherine and his children left alone,” an insider added.
“They can rebuild their relationship, but William will not allow his family to become collateral damage again.”
This is not the first time SNL UK has poked fun at the royal family. Now in its second season, the show has put the royals at the centre of several bold sketches.
With the family’s tensions still playing out publicly, they could remain a target for further satire.
