Prince Harry supports Meghan as she faces backlash over her father’s alleged actions
Meghan Markle has reportedly been shocked by the backlash she has faced over the scandal surrounding her father, Thomas Markle Sr.
The Duchess of Sussex is said to have made clear that her concern is for the victims and that she is disturbed by what her father allegedly did.
A source quoted by Heat World described the response as a double standard, pointing to how Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were treated after allegations emerged against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
While many argued that the sisters should not be blamed for their parents’ mistakes, the source said Meghan has not been shown the same understanding. Instead, she has been portrayed as the villain, leaving her and Prince Harry “disgusted”.
“Meghan’s spent years being vilified for turning her back on her father,” the insider said.
“But now the allegations are out in the open, and it’s clear why she did that; instead of admitting their mistake, the trolls are doubling down on Meghan being the villain.”
The source added that the criticism goes beyond anonymous online accounts. People with large platforms have also joined in, making the attacks “very damaging”. Harry and Meghan are reportedly surprised that those critics have not shown a “shred of humanity”.
For now, Meghan is said to be “tuning out the noise” and leaning on those closest to her, with Harry firmly by her side.
