Harry reportedly plans to stay in Britain for his children as California keeps calling Meghan
Prince Harry is reportedly ready to make Britain his home for the next 12 to 15 years as he puts his children’s future at the heart of his long-term plans.
The Duke of Sussex and his wife, Meghan Markle, are said to be preparing to spend an “extended period of time” in the UK amid reports that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet could attend school there.
A source quoted by the Daily Mail claimed Harry does not see the arrangement as a short-term move.
“The way he sees it is that he will be here for the next 12 to 15 years, minimum,” the insider said.
Harry’s reported decision is largely driven by his desire to be closely involved in his children’s upbringing. The source described him as a “full-time father” who wants to be there for everyday family life, not just birthdays and other major milestones.
“He wants them to be raised British, in Britain, and go to a public school,” the insider claimed. “That is what the move is about.”
The Sussexes may have been considering the idea for years. Earlier reports suggested King Charles discovered their plans only shortly before they became public, but a source has since claimed the monarch was “well aware” that Harry had been looking at British schools.
According to the newspaper, Harry and Meghan have allegedly requested prospectuses and spoken with headteachers over the years while weighing their options for Archie and Lilibet.
However, the plans do not necessarily point to a permanent relocation for the whole family.
Meghan is expected to continue dividing her time between Britain and California, where many of her business interests remain. Her As Ever lifestyle brand is based in the US, as is the couple’s Archewell Productions company.
A friend reportedly said the Duchess would need to spend “quite a bit of time in the US” because she could not manage all her professional commitments remotely.
Harry and Meghan are also expected to keep their Montecito property. The family could return to California for Christmas, school holidays and other breaks throughout the year.
The proposed arrangement would allow Harry to give Archie and Lilibet the British upbringing he reportedly wants for them while Meghan maintains her strong professional ties to California.
