School-run security emerges as a major concern as the Sussexes return to the UK
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are concerned about the safety of their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, particularly during the school run.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have returned to the UK as private citizens without taxpayer-funded security, leaving their children’s protection a pressing concern.
A friend of the couple told The Telegraph: “It is absolutely the biggest area of concern. It creates the most dangers.”
Former policeman Scott Hamer echoed those concerns, explaining why school journeys pose a particular challenge for security teams.
He said: “The whole point of protection is to keep the diary as tight as possible, to ensure people who might want to do bad things do not have the opportunity to do so.
“With the school run, you can vary the route as much as you like, but the start and end point will almost always be the same. It’s really, really difficult.”
