Royal family could hold a meeting similar to the historic Sandringham summit amid concerns over Harry’s return to Britain
King Charles and Prince William are reportedly considering talks with Prince Harry amid concerns about how his return to Britain could affect the monarchy.
Writing in Woman & Home, royal expert Duncan Larcombe suggested that senior royals could seek a face-to-face meeting with Harry, similar to the historic Sandringham summit. The reported concern is that the attention surrounding Harry and Meghan Markle could overshadow working royals and create what has been described as a “rival court” in the UK.
At the Sandringham summit, the late Queen made clear that Harry and Meghan could not pursue a “half-in, half-out” approach to royal duties or use their HRH titles. According to the report, the couple have allegedly breached those boundaries on several occasions.
Larcombe quoted an insider as saying: “William is extremely concerned about what Harry’s return to Britain will mean for working members of the family.
“It may well be too risky for them to just sit back and let Harry make the next move.”
Those concerns could prompt Charles and William to seek a meeting, although it remains unclear whether Harry would agree to attend.
“Whether Harry will agree to meeting them all is up for debate, but it is felt that the King and William have little option but to try,” the source said.
The report also suggested that Harry understands the potential consequences of remaining estranged from his brother, who will one day become King.
“Harry may be many things, but he is not stupid. He knows that if he remains at war with his brother, when the time comes for William to take the throne, the consequences for him could be severe,” the source added.
