High Court judge confirms agreement between Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Thames Valley Police
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has secured a legal victory after Thames Valley Police agreed that search warrants used to raid two of his properties in February 2026 were unlawful and should be quashed.
Justice Hilliard confirmed the agreement at a hearing at the Royal Courts of Justice on Thursday, October 8, 2026. The former Duke of York did not attend.
The warrants, granted on February 18, 2026, authorised officers to search premises in Norfolk and Berkshire as part of an investigation into alleged misconduct in public office.
According to a new report, the High Court formally quashed the warrants on July 22. Both parties accepted that the legal basis on which an Old Bailey judge had originally issued them was incorrect.
Andrew’s legal challenge also prompted Buckingham Palace to clarify its position. The Palace reportedly made clear that the father of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie would not be allowed to use the King’s money to fund the proceedings.
It described the legal action as “a matter for him and his legal team.”
