Harry’s friend offers a hopeful update on the estranged royal brothers
Prince Harry’s return to Britain has raised hopes that he could begin repairing his relationship with the royal family.
The Duke of Sussex was deeply upset when he and Meghan Markle left the UK in 2020, believing he had been forced into the decision. He has since continued to describe Britain as his home, at times suggesting that his life in the United States was temporary, particularly ahead of a planned meeting with his father, King Charles.
Now, friends close to Harry suggest that the King’s reportedly softer stance towards his younger son could open the door to a similar shift from Prince William.
In a Daily Mail report by Alison Boshoff, a friend of Harry claimed that “there is communication between [the brothers]”, despite reports of their continued estrangement.
“It’s too soon now but there is a hope and a belief that one day they will appear in public together and that will completely change the narrative,” the friend said.
Sources close to William, however, have continued to dismiss the prospect of reconciliation, describing the future king as “furious” with his brother.
Even so, one source offered a cautiously hopeful assessment, saying “there is a bit of optimism that we might be starting to see a change in sentiment about Harry”.
For now, they added, it is “one step at a time”.
