The Prince and Princess of Wales take protective measures for their children amid concerns over the Sussexes’ return and Harry’s security dispute.
Prince William and Princess Catherine had hoped for a peaceful summer before a major family transition. Instead, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s announcement about moving to Britain has prompted last-minute changes to their plans.
Sources close to Harry claim King Charles was informed of his intentions “six months” before the announcement. Even so, the news reportedly caught the royals by surprise, with sources cited by Vanity Fair describing the Waleses as “derailed” by the situation.
The Sussexes’ move is reportedly intended to provide Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet with a better educational experience. Their stay in Britain is expected to be “extensive” rather than permanent, with the children set to attend a prep school near the family’s home in the Cotswolds.
Meanwhile, Prince George is preparing to start at Eton College. Alongside Catherine’s recovery, that milestone had already made this a significant period for William.
“There’s a sense that William is going to have to be watching over his shoulder the whole time,” a source told the outlet. “He doesn’t know what his brother is going to spring on them all next. This was meant to be a happy time for him.”
The unexpected development has reportedly had a considerable impact on William as his family prepares for George’s next chapter.
William and Kate have also been spending time in Scotland with King Charles, Queen Camilla and other senior royals. Reports suggested a summit had been held to discuss the Sussexes’ return, although Palace aides denied those claims. That denial, however, does not rule out private discussions about the situation.
William is said to be “very concerned” about Harry and Meghan’s return and determined to preserve harmony within the Palace. Those concerns come amid existing friction over Harry’s dispute with the UK Home Office and Ravec regarding his security arrangements.
