Fresh developments in the Duke of Sussex’s US immigration case emerge after his royal accommodation issue is reportedly settled
Prince Harry is expected to return to Britain next month for several engagements, including his annual appearance at the WellChild Awards.
The Duke of Sussex travelled to the UK last month for activities connected to the Invictus Games. During the visit, he also reportedly arranged a meeting between King Charles and Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Following uncertainty over his accommodation, reports suggested Harry may accept an offer to stay at Buckingham Palace during his next trip to avoid further complications.
While that issue appears to have been resolved, his US visa case has now returned to the spotlight.
According to Newsweek, the US State Department has withheld 18 documents relating to Harry and will continue reviewing hundreds of additional records in a Freedom of Information Act case concerning his immigration status and previous admissions of drug use.
The development follows the Heritage Foundation’s unsuccessful attempt to secure the release of Harry’s immigration records. Judge Carl Nichols previously ruled that the Duke’s right to privacy outweighed the public interest in disclosing the documents.
Harry’s representatives have reportedly been contacted for comment but have yet to respond. Sources close to the Duke have maintained that he was truthful when completing his US visa application.
The latest review does not necessarily affect Harry’s ability to travel. However, it could create further scrutiny as he prepares to visit Britain and subsequently return to his home in California.
